If long-time team member Paul Rodriguez never became a professional skateboarder, chances are that boxing would’ve likely been his next occupation. Paying homage to his dream, P-Rod and are collaborating on a special iteration of the SB Dunk High that’s expected to release this month.

Inspired by his Mexican heritage, this upcoming psports a white-based upper that’s paired with red and green accents, which is a color palette found on the Mexican flag. Additional details include a championship belt lace locks and a flag-inspired outsole. Check out a first look below.

Mexican-American pro skater Paul Rodriguez has said that if he wasn’t a skater, he would be a boxer. PRod uses his love for the sport as inspiration for his upcoming SB collab.

This Dunk High is dressed in a Mexican flag inspired color scheme. Red piping and a green lateral Swoosh play accents to a white leather upper. The boxing inspiration is seen in the black and gold tongue tag and championship belt lace lock. The insoles are also designed to look like PRod’s hands inside boxing gloves.

Within the anthology that is SB‘s second coming, many a past collaborator has joined its crusade yet again: Supreme helped with a brand new trio, Diamond Supply shut down parts of Complex Con with its Canary Yellow exclusive, and now Paul Rodriguez joins in for a heartfelt Dunk High that pays homage to Mexican boxing. And not just that, as the themes lend to a bit of insight into the skater’s life before he took up the sport, specifically his interest in the fight-fueled pastime that very well could have sparked a career if things went a bit differently. Aesthetically, the paligns quite vibrantly with the Lucha Libre, coloring to the likeness of the country’s flag through bright red piping and smooth green swooshes. White leather surround at the majority, however, though its luxe, gold-adorned accents — the namesake branding at the tongue patch and the champion belt dubrae atop the vamp — make up for its lack of color in spades.
